AFRICA

I was just reading an online discussion board reguarding the top 10 poorest countries in the world. Unfortunately (whether it be because of: geography, industrialization, colonialism, education, resources, infrastructure, overpopulation, investment, government or debt) they are all located in the beautiful continent of Africa.

Did you know that 25,000 people die daily of starvation, more children than adults of coarse. That the combined income of the world’s richest individuals leaves far behind that of the poorest 416 million. 982 million out of 4.8 billion people in the developing world live on $1 a day. Another 2.5 billion live on below $2 a day. 40% of the poorest population made up 5% of world income while 20% of the richest population made up 75% of global income in 2005. (Imagine now that economy is at such low!

My concern, and truly my friends, my daily prayer, is for all those innocent children around the world that go to sleep every night with out a bottle of milk, or a piece of bread.

God gave me such a love for the African cultures and histories (yes, from Somalia, Zamba to Uganda to DRC). Why?! I have no idea, but my hearts cries at the thought of those parents having to look at the hungry, skin baring, joy-less innocent faces of their children and NOT being able to give them such a bare necessity as it is food.

I know we all can't be missionaries, or adopt an orphan, or go to those countries and donate hundreds or even thousands of dollars. But we can all raise a prayer for those innocent individuals across the world. Yes, Haiti, due to the earthquake had many calamities, but in a month, when the news stop broadcasting the truth...who will remind us.

Income taxes are coming soon, and yes we all have bills, and believe me we all have debt. But my friends, give just a little. For food, for a notebook. Those children may never know what a crayon or coloring book is. How comfortable socks feels, or how puffy a pillow is at night. They may not even learn how to write or read because they must help their parents in the fields as they learn to walk.

Give thanks to God for EVERYTHING you have...count your blessing because there are millions around the world right now with nothing....literally..NOTHING.

Not only in Africa, but in South and Central America, in Europe, in Asia, even here in the USA...there is so much work to be done and little are the workers!

Luke 10: 1-9

"La mies es abundante y los obreros pocos"

Mathew 25:37

"Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 38 ‘And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 39 ‘When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 “The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me."
